Handmade in Prison sells bags and earrings made by former detainees in Cape Verde. By providing an income for themselves a detainee can buy food, toiletries and art materials. In this way, the detainee can work on a better future and he or she supports the community outside of the prison. Customers that buy a bag or eaarings, walk around with beautiful products and contribute to a second chance for a detainee. Once they get out of the prison we still buy, whenever possible, the bags from the ex-detainees. This is to prevent a relapse into old habits. 10% of the sales are donated to CSD-Foundation.
